Tixel Skin Resurfacing

What Tixel Treats

Tixel Skin Resurfacing is a revolutionary cosmetic procedure that utilizes thermo-mechanical ablation technology (TMA) to rejuvenate your skin, providing remarkable improvements in tone and texture. This treatment offers an effective solution for achieving a more radiant and youthful appearance, with results often comparable to deep skin peels and intensive laser treatments. What sets Tixel apart is its reduced downtime, minimal discomfort, and quicker recovery times.

Tixel is versatile and can address a wide range of skin concerns, making it an ideal choice for individuals seeking:

  • Smoother and more radiant skin
  • Reduction in the visible signs of aging
  • Treatment without extended downtime
  • Long-lasting results driven by the body's natural collagen production

Tixel is known for its efficacy in treating:

  • Skin tightening, including crepey neck and jowls
  • Skin rejuvenation for the face, neck, and décolletage
  • Acne and acne scarring
  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Eyelift, targeting sagging eyelids or under-eye bags
  • Uneven pigmentation and melasma
  • Rosacea
  • Stretch marks

Tixel operates by gently stamping a heated metallic plate with pyramid-shaped spikes onto the skin. Unlike lasers, Tixel doesn't rely on light or radiation; instead, it utilizes thermo-mechanical energy to create tiny channels in the skin through evaporation. This process stimulates the production of new collagen, resulting in improved skin quality, texture, and significant tightening.
This process helps improve general skin quality, wrinkles, skin texture, and can also improve acne scarring.

Tixel offers distinct advantages compared to other resurfacing treatments:

  • No Need for Protective Eyewear: Unlike CO2 lasers, Tixel doesn't require protective eyewear, making it safe to treat areas around the eyes without the risk of eye injury.
  • Minimal Downtime: Tixel treatments are reported to be less painful with significantly shorter downtime compared to traditional laser fractional resurfacing treatments.
  • Versatility: Tixel's energy levels can be adjusted to suit individual needs, allowing for customization of treatment intensity and recovery time.

How Tixel Works

Full Ablative Treatment

Both full and medium ablative treatments are ideal for skin tightening and scar treatment. At this highest level, results are comparable to those of a fractional CO2 laser resurfacing treatment or a deep chemical peel, with just one session. Recovery time can vary, and for 2-3 days, the skin can be pink, and small micro crusts will develop. Makeup can be worn 48 hours after treatment to cover this. We recommend a couple of days off work post-treatment.

Tixel offers 3 levels of treatments:

Medium Ablative Treatment

This level can achieve the same skin tightening results as the full ablative level, however, it will require more sessions. The recovery time is less with normal activities resuming within 24 hours. Post-care treatment is the same as full ablative treatment.

Results of a course of ablative and sub-ablative treatments can last several years, as it is your own collagen that produces the effects. A course of 3-6 treatments is recommended.

Open-Channel Treatment

An Open Channel treatment is the lightest treatment level. The heat applied to the skin creates “channels” in the upper layer of the skin. This increases the porosity of the skin to help in the absorption of topical medicines (known as mesotherapy) which targets conditions such as melasma, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, and skin laxity. There is minimal downtime and you can return to normal activities the next day. Make-up can be used the same day to hide any redness, however, it is preferable not to.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on the treatment mode and the individual. Full Ablative sessions achieve results faster than Medium Ablative treatments. Some people start to see results after just one treatment, however, for best results, the recommended treatment is a course of 3-6 sessions spaced ideally 4-6 weeks apart, with a treatment every 6 or 12 months thereafter. Open Channel treatments can be performed every 2-4 weeks.

Post treatment downtime:

Your skin may feel tight, warm and slightly sensitive, as if you have been in the sun, with some mild swelling and redness 24-72 hours post-treatment. For the Full and Medium Ablative treatments, your skin can remain pink to red for 2-3 days and a light brown micro crust will form for 7-10 days. For the lower intensity Open Channel treatment, you will be able to return to normal activity the following day. Tixel around the mouth may trigger cold sores, this can be treated as you would normally treat an outbreak.

We recommend a couple of days off work post treatment.

You will not want to sweat or wear makeup for the first 24 hours, longer if the settings were higher.
